Vancouver Island is an island of unparalleled grandeur and natural splendour. Thousands of people visit each year to experience world-renowned scenic areas and famous attractions. Although our island is often characterized by its sun-splashed Parksville and Qualicum beaches, challenging Golf Courses and crystal-blue waters, its diverse geography, climate and population centres mark the various regions with their own distinct beauty and majesty.
From rugged mountains, green forests and miles of coastline, there is something on Central Vancouver Island for everyone to enjoy. Whether your interests lie in recreational activity, living the good life, cultural development, natural splendor or the excitement of the big city, you can pursue them on Vancouver Island.
Fly in on direct, regularly scheduled air service from Vancouver or set sail on one of many ferries commuting from the mainland (from Vancouver area to Nanaimo or Victoria, or Washington State to Southern Vancouver Island). You may drive the new Inland Island Highway and turn onto Highway 19A which is the scenic Oceanside Route or take the Vancouver Island/Laidlaw bus. If trains are your fancy, you may want to catch the historic VIA E&N Rail from Victoria.
